Bollywood stars are born in bunches…

Just noticed:

  • Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra – all born in 1942
  • Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan – all born in 1965
  • Kajol, Karishma Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Hrithik Roshan – all born in 1974
  • Dilip Kumar (Dec ’22), Dev Anand (Sep ’23) and Raj Kapoor (Dec ’24) had a max gap of 2 years between them.

Interesting initial data… seems worthwhile to explore!

  1. Well, I knew that Amitabh, Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna were born in the same year, and I knew that Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand are the same age.

So, I thought that I should find out the same about the Khans, because they hit the screens around the same times!

  2. This is so amusing.

I once remarked to a non-Indian client that in India if you know a persons work-experience or his year of graduation, it is as good as knowing his age. We mostly follow a very well defined path – school, high school, college (professional/others), masters, career. So, you don’t need to ask a lady her age, just ask her her year of graduation 🙂 , which isn’t rude. I somehow thought this would not be true in a non-traditional profession.

  3. yes, very true.. I remember an occassion when a Korean person wanted to find the age of another Indian person here at Michigan.. The Indian guy would not give out his age… I asked him when did you come the US for your masters? And based on that, I told his age 🙂

  4. Did you know that Amitabh, Jeetandra, Rajesh Khanna etc got married the same year too. 1973. This is the year my parents got married and my father never failed to mention that when we watched any of their moves.

  5. A very good blog, I really loved the content. I have forwarded this blog to all of my friends. Please keep posting such a nice stuff. It is simply a greate blog.

  6. Okay, Lalit, you’re the king of doing all this Bollywood research, so please tell me something I don’t know about Shiny Ahuja– he’s my new favorite to the point that I think I might be in love with him! 🙂

  7. Well, “king” is a bit too much!!! I am not someone who does a lot of Bollywood research, and very little on anything new.

Your question is very tough to answer.. How can I tell you something that you don’t know about him, if you are in love with him, and I barely know who he is? It should be you who should start telling me more than I know about him!

In fact, it is impossible to guarantee that I can tell anyone something about someone, unless I am sure of what you know about that someone…

In this case, however, I can tell you exactly how much older Shiny Ahuja is than me! Would that be something about him that you do not know?
