    Anil Kukmar Singh
    1977 batch

    Dear Lalit,

It is heartening to see how fondly you and the others who

responded remember Cardinal Gracias High School.

I spent 10 years in the school, as did my sister, Neelam (1979

batch), and brother Sunil (1981 batch).

I am the Chief Reporter of the Times of India , Mumbai.

Some years ago, Anil Nair from our batch organised a grand

reunion of the 1977 batch. Michael (Tarzan) who has posted a

comment here is from our batch. Nirmala Patil, who topped our

batch, is the principal of a high school at Ujjain today.

I remember the day when her aunt, Pratibha Patil,

now the President, inaugurated the ladies

hostel across the road in 1976.

Allen Pinto, the other bright star from our batch, went on to

become a mechant navy captain but has opted to take up a

shore job and lives in Vakola.

But life has its own surprises and at the reunion, some seven

years ago, I was surprised to see how well some of the

relatively unknown students had done in life.

I am happy to have come across other alumni. I am available

on 9820444866 or on the third floor of Times of India bldg,

    opp CST. Call before coming.

Best of luck to all of you,

    Anil Singh

    • Hi Anil,
Its so nice to see messages from batch mates of 1977. I hope you all remember me. I was in Xth C in Ms. Margaret’s class. We used to have a lot of fun in IXth A when our class was marked as the most notorious one. I’m in Toronto, Canada and my mom lives with my sis Arati in Australia. Its nice to know that you all are planning a gala function for the golden jubilee of the school. I wish i could attend the same as i missed out on the earlier events. Perhaps I might be there as I do come to India on business every year. If the dates coincide then surely i will be there.
      Good Luck to all!!!

    • Hello Anil,
I was browsing through this website and came across your email. I graduated from CGHS in 1979 same year as your sister Neelam did. We were together in quite a few classes.

  11. Hi,

Its Anil Kumar Singh from the 1977 batch again.

Can those of us who can meet at the school ? To begin with, lets stick to a 5 year period. For instance, a reunion of 1975 to 1979, 1980 to 1984, etc.

Thanks to this blog, I got in touch with Dr Hemant Deshmukh. Like all of us, he wants to give something back to our alma mater.

Let’s make a beginning by networking first. I can be contacted on anilsinghjournalist@gmail.com.

    Regards,
    Anil Singh

  12. Friends
I am Anil Nair 1977 batch cardinal
Find a lot of people with similar intentions. We have all tried to get a network going in our individual ways but felt the synergy was missng. We the 77 batch had a get together in school with about 35 odd retired teachers and we connected about 101 students of our batchwhere they were honored and it was a mind boggling spectacle where we really wished to see all the people we knew at least.
We have now spread beyond our batch and collected thro networking abot 125 odd mail ids of different batches at cardinal.gracias@rediffmail.com and have mailed at least 200 students from batchmates or wherever possible.wouldnt remember the batch year of each of the reponses there but quite a few from every batch are there including juniors and seniors.Had even propounded the idea of all students meeting irrespective of batch year at school and calling each teacher of ours.Had always said that any student if he or she is able to add the adress of either a brother or sister or a friend whomsoever he or she in touch with will help increase the network base.Once that is thro we can decide a long term process to meet at school ‘
Talking of activities we as a batch have set up a scholarship type at school for needy students.
And am glad for one major thing that the pride our schoolmates have generated professionally for which we have to acept the base was CARDINAL and our teachers.
which am seeing from the various feedbacks of students recd
GOD BLESS U ALL AND LETS MAKE THE DREAM OF COMING TOGETHER AT SCHOOL SOME DAY TRUE FROM WHERE WE CAN ALL COORDINATE TO DO SOME ACTIVITY FOR THE ALMAMATER.

  13. HI,

I am Pasha from 1977 batch.

I am so happy seeing the ex-students of (V)CGHS are easily now contactable by this site, i still remember the days when myself and anil Nair use to meet after our office hours and search old houses of our batch and find out the details from the neighbors, etc. It has taken 2 months to gather all the students, but the we were very much overwhelmed and satisfied as more than 90 students from our batch came in contact with us and are still in contact with each other, in all events like happiness and sorrows. Today we are able to contact easily through this site, definitely if every one come together we can arrange a grand function at our school. I feel that if you have a will there will be success, as we are in touch from all corners of the word of our batch then why not all the ex-students can be contacted.

I wish all the ex-students success and if any one requires my help they are most welcome.

  18. Hi,

I passed out from CGHS in 1980 and continue to be in touch with the fathers once in a while. I do voluntary work at Bandra East Community Centre and we plan to hold the second edition of a State wide Basketball tournament at the CGHS courts between November 1st to the 10th.

CGHS has a very good cement court and floodlights and matches are held in the evening. Last year 36 teams participated in the men’s, boys and girls section ( over 400 players). This year we plan to have 40 teams and maybe some outstation teams as well.

We look forward to your involvement and support. You could contact Fr. Cyril D’Souza ( email beccdirector@yahoo.co.in). My brother Donald is from the 84 batch and sister Renny from the 88 batch.

I work with Alcatel-Lucent in Human resources.

    Look forward to catching up.

  20. The efforts put by all of us shouldnt go waste.Pasha me and quite a few of us have slogged to get a brief base going.
Dr hemant has another 15 odd students of which we have prabhakar/shobha krishnan/sunil /muqtadar/mohan/arati/and many of the students who have passed thro kem hospital.Same way request talk to all friends we know or contact them to put their mail ids here or at cardinal.gracias@rediffmail.com to see if we can coordinate about a 1000 odd members at school.
Few of us like Srinidhi rao etc have volunteered to help and we can acheive it if we synergise our efforts.
Put thro the mails of each of our bro/sis/friends we in touch with and we can triplicate these nos at a drop of a hat.
Thats enough to set up the preliminary base from where we can go ahead.
    Anil

  22. Hi All !!!
This is Nasir Ahmed, passed SSC 1976 batch. I joined Valerian Cardinal Gracias School in 1965 Std.I and left the Alma Mater Cardinal Gracias High School in 1976 completing my SSC. During those 11 wonderful years, there are sooooo many good times spent I would like to share, which I would be doing in parts so that we are always in touch.
I have an export business based in Mumbai and have my offices in Dubai and Kuwait and I keep travelling to these places. Presently I am in Kuwait.
I am still in touch with friends, to name a few – Aslam Shaikh, Mohsin Abdul Qader, Mohammed Salahuddin, Anil Mecwan, Unnikrishnan Nair, Dinesh Naik. A few years back I met Yashodara Shetty, almost after 25 years at Shoppers Stop… it was really a moment of joy. It is sad to say that after meeting Sayeeda (sister of Pasha) after a looong time, she left us early, May the Almighty rest her soul in peace.
Now, let me give a big thanks to Mr. Lalit, whom I get to know from this blog and also to our dear friends Anil Mecwan, Anil Nair and Pasha who have been trying to get all ex-students together on a common platform.

  24. Hi Lalit,
After a long search i could connect to this page.
infact its always good & refreshing to see pictures of our school days. Those were the best time of our lives yaar.
Infact, i was very fond of our then principal Mr.Rocky when i passed out in 1985. He was a man who believed in discipline without any compromise but at the same time he was soft hearted too & very considerate.

This idea of having a reunion had come to my mind several times over the last 5 years but did not quite materialize due to time constraint.

But one thing is for sure, the idea has still not died out. I still want to organize a reunion of our batch (1984-85).
I am still in touch with my classmates Deven Tichkule,Balaji Chawan, Shailesh parsekar & Liladhar.

    U take care buddy.
    Regards,
    Ravindar Nadar.

      • Hey Ravindra, Irfan – I stumbled on this page today – was surprised and happy to find your comments here – remember me? I was in your class too (was the 1986 batch) – Bala and Me shared a desk for a couple of years – still remember the lunch he would share – would be great to reconnect.
Others I remember from our class – Viviene, Vincent, Reema, Salauddin, Miraj, Oscar

  25. hi all !
some of the teachers whom i remember (1965-1976) who had a great hand in moulding our character and our future, my sincere regards and prayers for them and their family:
    my primary school days –
june teacher – tall & slim.. that’s how i remember her who taught the lesson ‘late kate’.
sequeira teacher – a touch of mom in her way of teaching. she used to stay at gandhi nagar.
velu sir – discipline was utmost to him, our p.t. sir.
    secondry school days –
dorothy rose teacher – a great soul, calm nd loving.
d’souza teacher – maths teacher, her favourite was steel ruler on the knuckles for one mistake u comit in maths. out of fear we started taking interest in maths.
micheal sir – was there for a year or two teaching marathi – his way of punishing was asking to hold scale between teeth and stand straight.
gore sir – may his soul rest in peace, our drawing sir with whom we shared many a good moments.
fernandez teacher – was there for a year or so taking history, she joined our school the year jumbo jets came flying to bombay.
laxmi teacher – i think she came as substitute for short period, pucca malyali teacher.
jose sir – was there for a short period teaching geography to us.
scaria sir – scarry sir for his pinches i believe, also he was there who founded all types of clubs – science, photography, watch-making nd what not..
father joseph – a lovable father who called us ‘bondu’ for silly mistakes we commit.
krishnan sir – we used to call him ‘maamu’. years before munnabhai…
many more to write but later…….
i hope some of the young guys of our time share with me and take time to pray for good health of these noble teachers.

    • Dear Nasir,

I do remember June teacher and Mrs. Sequeira exactly as you have described them. If I remember right June teacher left the school when we were in the second standard.

Your description of the other wonderful teachers we had were bang on.

I hope you have not forgotten Fr. Josephs – Abdul Narayan D’souza nickname in case he forgot the name of the student.

You’ve missed out Mrs. Colin DeMonte … who taught us in the 5th.

Morris Sir who taught us Science and Ms. Vadgama – a slim bespectacled teacher …

As you probably weren’t in our division in the 7th (I was in 7-A and you in 7-C if my memory serves right) you missed out Ms. Imelda Mascarehas (I hope I spelt the second name right) who taught us for part of the year and to whom I owe a lot in terms of the quality of my English – as also Mrs. Kurien, who played a tremendous role. And Ms. Muriel who taught us in the second half of the 7th standard.

I have already named Mrs. Kurien earlier but you would also remember Mrs. Velu – who taught us geography and history, Mrs. Chacko – physics and biology, Mrs. Patil – who was also the School Supervisor at that time and also taught us accountancy in the 9th and 10th.

Parasnath Sir, Ramchandran Sir – our Hindi teachers.

Do you remember Mr. Mishra – who was our Scout Master for some time?

Mrs. Ovid our class teacher in the 10th, Mrs. Nagesh – our Sanskrit teacher ….

Glory teacher who taught us Maths in Primary section, Mr. Koman who taught us Maths in the Secondary section …

And Mr. Varghese – who taught us Physics as also Mrs. Jacob – who taught us biology.

Am I forgetting anyone else? I would love to be reminded. ….

I join Naseer in praying for the good health of our teachers who have made us what we are today.

      • hi prakash,

nice to recollect all those good memories of school days…
i have faint memories of collin teacher and vadgama teacher.

morris sir was my class sir in std. 7th. he passed away, may his soul rest in peace..

i had to repeat std. 7th – and this time i was in std.7-a, and class teacher was ms. mascarhenas..in the first half and ms. muriel in the second half.. i owe a lot to both these teacher, although they were just with us for 6 months each, for what i am today. do u remember ms. mascarhenas 2 valuable periods explaining us the process of child-birth and the pain a mother takes in delivering her child.. she made us realise the importance of woman in our life and particularly of our mother. before she left the school, she made me the class leader, a responsibility that changed my attitude towards life. ms. muriel asked me to continue the responsibility and helped me overcome many a hurdles that we face during school days. they really were great teachers and may the lord bless them and their family good life..

father prakash o prem will also be cherished although he was avery strict – don’t remember how many time we must have got his canning – may his soul rest in peace.. and father bent was a sweet father.. hope you remember him..

        keep in touch.

    • Dear all,
A Big Hi to all CGHS mate’s. This is Suresh Jangid from 81 batch. Being one of most notorious & hence one of the favorite of Father Vijay. May be some of you may know me. Many thanks for an update on all our teachers & mentors who have played a key role in moulding us. I am here in Nairobi as chief Sales officer for Africa with Essar. Any one of my old friend is more than welcome to link up with me on +254 751 111 555 or sureshjangid@hotmail.com. Cheers!

  26. Oct2,

    Hi All,

This is Anil Kumar Singh (1977 batch). Naseer Ahmed’s memories of our teachers has made me nostalgic.

The one uppermost in my mind is Fr Prakash. Although he would cane us severely to punish us, he also encouraged good students and teachers. I remember how teachers too were terrified of him. Fr Prakash laid firm foundations for our school. He expired some years ago. May his soul rest in peace.

Mrs Patil, the first headmistress, who should also get credit along with Fr Prakash for building the school. She was a perfectionist. Many years later when I met her she told me how ex-students popped up in the most unexpected places; one of them in a refinery in Assam. Now, I am sure you will bump into a Cardinalite in any part of the world.

Mrs Kurien, who taught us English. She was jovial and meticulous but gave us so much homework that I spent two hours on finishing it everyday. Ultimately, that improved my writing and is now helping me in my profession as a journalist.

Mr Ambrose, an excellent Maths teacher. Made the subject so simple.

Mrs Ovid, who was always immaculately dressed. She argued on our behalf with the principal (Fr Samuel) to relax the rules so that our trousers could be more fashionable. I think we wore bell bottoms and flares were in fashion. Correct me if I am wrong.

Mrs Nagesh, the gentle soul who taught us Sanskrit. She once found it difficult to read my handwriting in faint ink but read it nonetheless to assess my unit test answer paper.

Mrs Velu, who had a motherly touch. I felt reassured when she came to wish us well at the venue of our SSC exam on the first day. Many years later, I met her on a morning walk at MIG Colony and she actually looked younger !

Mr Ramchandra and Mr Parasnath, Hindi teachers, who were so different from each other. Hindi was a welcome diversion from the usual subjects. Once, may be in the fifth std, I was daydreaming in class and Mr Ramchandra gave me a resounding slap. That was one of my worst days in school. Now, I realise he was in a foul mood that day (though that’s no excuse). The other most traumatic time in school was learning to make a cardboard cobra in the craft class !

Fr Vijay also taught us Hindi. But I remember him telling us about the industrial revolution and why boilers burst. When in a good mood, he would also read us jokes from a book !

Mr Koman, who vibed well with the students.

The elderly Mr Ramchandran, who wore gloves and a leather jacket while riding his luna.

Miss Margaret taught us Chemistry quite well, the unsmiling Mrs Chako taught us Physics but I can’t remember who taught us Biology.

I share Naseer’s sentiments about Mr Velu, the PT teacher, and about Mr Gore, with whom we went to Uttan (his village) on a scout excursion. We took a 9 am local train to Bhayander and returned at 6 pm the following day. Both times, the train was and we had our pick of window seats.

I remember there was bombshell who taught us in the ninth or tenth. Like all good things, it didn’t last long! Can someone tell me who she was and what she taught? (I am sure some male teachers of that era can!)

There were so many teachers; Mrs Colin, Mrs Chavan, Mrs Apte, Mr Jaiswal… In fact, a random listing such as this is unfair to the dozens of teachers who silently strived to give us the best.

Although we met several teachers in the reunion five years ago, I envy Anil Nair and Pasha who met quite a few of them at their homes when they were organising the first get-together of the 1977 batch.

I am looking forward to the next grand reunion of all batches.

    Regards,

    Anil Kumar Singh

PS: I must add that I too taught at Cardinal Gracias HS for a month in 1982. After BSc from SIES college, I had some time and Mrs Kurien told me to take up a leave vacancy. My subjects were Chemistry and maybe Physics and I taught the eighth and ninth.

    • Dear Anil I passed out in 1982 as well and I very much remember the names of the teachers you mentioned and the trip to Uttan with Gore sir. I now live in Dubai. Please be in touch

    • Hi,
I am Seraphino Fernandes from the 1978 batch. Nice to go on a free trip down memory lane with you, Nasir, Kavita and a host of others. Thanks Lalit for making CGHS alumni meet up on your blog. Seems like this blog is more active in connecting CGHS alumni.

The mention of teachers brought back memories and made me feel nostalgic.

As for Anil, the Biology teacher you have forgotten was Ms. Shukla. AND the ‘bombshell’ was Ms. Almeida who taught us Maths (Geometry) while Koman sir taught Algebra.

But in our trip down memory lane how can we forget our dear teachers who taught us to hold our pencils and learn to read : our KG teachers – the late Ms. Cecilia and Mrs. Watt (among the earliest teachers of our school- remember there used to be only 2 divisions in KG then), our primary teachers Ms. Patsy Bird, Mrs. Amy Crasta, Mrs. Philu D’cruz (all of whom continued to teach years after we even finished college), Ms. Nancy (who expired when we were still in Secondary. I still remember the setting in Hollandia Hall when the announcement was made and our senior, Kusum fainted on hearing the news). Besides our teachers we also had a few non-teaching staff (cannot recollect their names) like our 2 nepali watchmen, office boys, two aiyahs who worked tirelessly and office staff Ms. Vanaja & Mr. Jaipal who formed a part of the CGHS family.

Nasir’s list of 1976 students rolled me into a flashback. During those times there were not many students so even though they were my seniors, I could recollect some names & faces. Besides the first batch of SSC students graduated only in 1973. I remember the day how everyone was so happy to hear the 100 % result of the first batch. I recollect there were only about 30 odd students in that batch and we knew almost each one by name.

The school also had 11th & 12th Std classes for about 2 years in between. I remember David Augustine’s brother Charles joined in during this time and later was a dominating student leader at Chetana. I had the pleasure of working alongside him a couple of years later and I learnt a lot of stuff from him.

It will be worth spending a few thousands to come over from wherever we are and catch up with old mates……

      • Seraphino Fernandes , I remember you and Lawrence Fernandes always together ( a pair).
Good , it also brought back my memories of our School days where I studied from KG upto SSC ( ie. from 1966 – 78) . I met only Anil Pillai and once Saroj Mitter and Francis Menezes long time back . Hope to meet our old School friends soon on some special occassion Inshaallah.

        Warm regards.

        Mirza Shuaib Husain

  27. Hi to all and especially to anil !

anil, i am still not able to get connected to you. well i wl try sending u mail to know u better.

at times being lazy not able to come back with more of what i wanted to share, well anil has done it – thanks anil.

as said, for hindi, we had ramchander sir, parsanath singh sir, pandey sir and father vijay.
ramchander sir not only used to give those hi-fi slaps but would also call out – paaji, badtameez, nalayak, gada…. all his students must have got those titles once in their life time – agree?

parasnath sir was also a terrorrist – but a soft one sometimes – very inquisitive. used to take p.t. and there he goes one, two, thee…

pandey sir was the sir who used to come well suited and booted with a long neck tie.

for marathi, we had ovid teacher, chavan teacher and nagesh teacher teaching sanskrit as well.

ovid teacher was well dressed and always with the student. she did argue for us when we started wearing bell-bottom to the school and that was when we were in 8th std. in fact, that day we were asked to stand out of the class for our bottoms were about 20″ and one of the student aslam shaikh had it around 28″ or so.

for english, we had miss alba teacher (may her soul rest in peace), nainan teacher, patil teacher, kurien teacher.

patil teacher was our first headmistress and very strict with a motherly touch. she did give some good advices to students.
another one was kurien teacher who used to stay at mig colony.

we had varghese sir for physics who left school in 1977, i beleive and started business at masjid bunder vadgadi.

we had ambrose sir teaching chemistry and used to get our name mixed up with his night school students. i still remember him asking us to visit a public loo near the bus stop to get the smell of ammonia.

we had margaret teacher and chacko teacher with physics and chemistry and jacob teacher for biology.

velu teacher was for geography and we students being students used to harass her a lot calling various name.

maths of course was koman sir and all the students used to like him, very friendly and very sincere. took extra classes for no fees then so that we come out with good marks.

jaipal sir, our librarian – used to shout out “silence” ai they…

eric sir who took work experience and used to joke with all those equipments available in the work experience room. thanks to him, we can fix up small electrical mistakes..

then we had sister mary, shukla teacher, cardoze christi sir, morris sir, glory teacher, muriel teacher….

muriel teacher was there for about nine months or so when we were in std.7 and she was our class teacher.
morris sir was also our class sir when i was in std.7 a year earlier.

well, teachers, we pray for you and thank you for making us what we are today…….

keep in touch nd warm regards
    nasir ahmed

  65. Hi Folks,

I graduated from Cardinal Gracias in 1976, joined SIES and then went on to join IIT Madras. I have been in the US for the last 27 years.

Cardinal Gracias had many good teachers – Mrs. Nagesh, Mrs. Margaret, Koman Sir and Varghese Sir were my favorites. I learned a lot from them.

I must, however, say that I don’t have kind things to say about Fr. Prakash – who must have been the biggest sadist on the planet. I hear that he is dead and gone – good riddance as far as I am concerned.

It is so sad that CGHS permitted such sadistic behavior. His behavior needs to be publicly denounced, posthumously.

I would love to have a reunion.

    Krish

    • hi krish !

this is nasir ahmed, a year junior to you in cardinal… i believe jayanthi ganpathy is your sister – she was in my class..

nice to hear from you and hope to meet you at the grand re-union.. i hope you are in contact whith shambu rao, he is in US – he must have been in your class… he lost his brother sitaram a few months back…

hope your sis jayanthi is doing fine.. is she also settled abroad.. pls do convey my regards when you happen to talk to her.

      keep in touch.

      regards

    • hi krish !
this is nasir ahmed from ssc 1976 batch.
good to hear about your well-being and wish you more success.
although fr. prakash was a terror, aren’t we, what we are as of today, because of his strictness and the cannings … but if i am correct, you were never in his book of bad records..
i must be a year junior to you, if not mistaken, you had a sis by name jayanthi nd hope she is fine.. pls convey my regards..
i keep meeting komman sir.. i last met him a couple of weeks back. next time i meet him, i will inform him about you..
      regards
      nasir ahmed
      knahmed02@gmail.com

Hugging, Embracing, holding each other close to heart once again, was too much a heart can take. Tears flowed with Joy. Bodies Trembled with Happiness. One could see the Cosmic Happiness here. It was the feel of Heavens.

The Same Innocent Love As Fresh As Pure As Nectar Could Be Felt…Sensed Deeply…

  82. Dear everyone from ’77 and other batches
Our meeting at school on 18/09/10 brought back old memories I visited the school after almost 35 yrs. meeting up with my colleagues has really made my day, looking forward to many such interactions

  83. Hey Cardinalites, I am Narayan. Passed out from the last 11th Std SSC 1975 batch. Have been going through all the messages posted in the lpatil blog. Very Pleasant memories. enjoying all the comments. Keep going. Any one from my batch….

  84. Hi:
This is Samir Desouza from the 1985 batch.

We were schooboys in the most entertaining time possible what with Fr. Vijay Jones as our principal. Our adventures together still make for rather interesting talk whenever we meet.

To have seen the school grow has been one of our greatest joys. From the mud-streaked roads of the 1970s to the adjacent well-paved highway of 2010, CGHS has come a long way..its fun walking down memory lane.

We grew up in a rather unique time with Phantom and Mandrake comics, drinking Pepsi-Cola from plastic pouches and playing backyard cricket when India were World Champs.

“For all that has been, shall yet be again”.

Wishing all the future Gracianites the fun that we ourselves had.

  85. I do not know anybody can remember me. I was in first batch SSC 10th 1975.
I used to sit with Jamuna with nice long hair.
Sometimes i used to sit with Maria, sorry don’t remember last name. She was staying in 40 number bldg in Kherwadi. She had a sister in our same class. Her name started with letter “M”.
Tomboy Anne was also with us with Mary,Asha.
I lived in Housing Board Bldg 60 on 2nd fl.
My brother Narayan was also in the same school. He passed out in Old SSC 1975 batch.
I live in Toronto with my husband Mohan Swaminathan who is also Old SSC 1975 batch.

  89. hi folks,
what an awsome gathering we had at the alumnus meet on the 19th of dec. it was agrand fanfare to meet old buddies and staff.i was touched with the affection and warm greetings from the staff. to my mind the most outstanding teachers till date have been … who else yaar of course the great KOMAN Sir and ofcourse the gracious GRACE Teacher … if ever awards have to go then these two will win hands down. they were cool teachers and humourous too … they nonetheless got huge applause as they went up on the stage. their commitment and dedication to the school was 100%…. KEEP UP TEACHERS.and all gracianites.

  90. hey /that is very true stanley, the alumus meet on the 19th was supak…..there was so much camaraderie… it was great to meet our teachers. most disappeared after the function…. but those who were around we simply ….. were zapped.but where was sheela tr?. they three were always together….(tr.grace , girija and sheela)whether sports or prize distribution ….tr Rose and others were there.hey we should have called the head boy and head girls of the years to be felicitated too….long live cardinal gracias school./////

  91. hey , what a great fun filled get to gether we had ….t the alumnus meet we.met many trs and principal, but no sign of dear fr.ARUL, He was solely responsible to give us clean and hygenic environment, cleanwater, washrooms, benches, cupboards, canteen facilaties,pt uniforms, computers, new lab, library, clean well ventilated classrooms….he was very approachable and loved the weak and poor students. ya men he encouraged sports too. long live fr Arul.

Great to read about all our teachers.
Days at CGHS will always be memorable….

  95. Hey Guys… Good to see a blog of Cardinal Gracias…
I was in this school for few years.. but had I continued.. I would have passed out in 1983.. I moved out of the school in 1977 as we shifted to Bandra West.. Yes.. I completed my third standard in 1977.. vow.. so so many years ago.. but distinctly have very fond memories. Father Prakash’s assembly and the prayer Humko man ki shakti dena. and the way our assembly hall would become the shelter for so many not so privileged citizens of our neighbourhood during rains..This was my first lesson of compassion and brotherhood..Yeh those days are so very fresh in my mind..
Not to forget my favourite teacher Ms Joyce D sa.. She used to stay in Bandra west.. Last but not the least my best friends Lily Pereira and Rajashree.. Not in touch with them as one grows..one only looks forward.. and then at one stage he sits back and reflects on the so many beautiful memories from the childhood to teens to youth..one feels the loss.. I donno where these two beautiful friends of mine are today.. and also my so encouraging teacher.Just incase anyone can place me or have details aout them.. drop in a line on hingoranisanjay@hotmail.com.

  101. Hi Guys,

I am Rajeev Sharma. I was in CGHS in 1975-76 (5th & 6th Std) but would have passed out with class of 1980. My class teachers were Iype John Sir (5th) and Mrs Ramachandran (Math; 6th std). Some of my friends I remember are Milind Chauhan, Iqbal, Suresh E.K., Bhaskar (we fought in the quadrangle & were punshed by the principal:-) I also remember Jayshree, Sara Abraham, Wilma. Mrs Abraham used to teach Geog. Mrs Shukla used to teach English for some time along with Mrs Dorothy. Mr Ramchandra was the Hindi Teacher. Mrs Apte was the PT teacher. Good lord, I still remember the morning assembly and the horror of getting late, running across that pond in front of the school and waiting outside to get the calendar signed:-) I used to be so scared of my teachers and Math too. Father Samuel was the kindest person I knew then. Ironically I went on to become a Col in the Indian army and a rocket scientist! Thanks for all my friend and teachers. Very Impressionable time! I am in US now in New Jersey. God Bless our School & you all!

    Warm Regards
    Rajeev
